About the CPD

The Columbus Police Department is made up of 5 sworn police officers and a K9 unit who serve a population of nearly 2,000 people. The officers patrol within the city limits which is approximately 1.35 square miles.

The vision of the Columbus Police Department is to provide excellent service to those we serve and protect. We achieve this by being an integral part of our community. We demonstrate our commitment by providing quality service, accountability, and community involvement. We constantly evaluate and improve our services so our citizens can enjoy a safe and positive environment.

Our Mission
The ultimate mission of the Columbus Police Department is to provide public safety and preserve order for our citizens, visitors, schools, and businesses. We accomplish this while guarding, without prejudice, the liberties of all those we encounter. We must be both approachable and transparent as an agency to become part of the community we serve. Our responsibilities are varied, and we are committed to deliver superior service by interacting with our community to identify and solve problems.
